St. Clair was one of the first townships in Allegheny County and was originally two separate townships. The most famous incident in its history was the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794 when about 500 rebellious farmers marched along Fort Couch Road to protest federal taxes on Whiskey. Today USC is considered one of the wealthiest suburbs of Pittsburgh.
